I get some version of this question almost every week, usually from a client mid-move:"Okay, but where do I actually eat around here? Is there a good park nearby? What's there to do on a Saturday?"
Real estate isn't just about square footage and closing dates. It's about whether a place feels like yours once the boxes are unpacked. So over the past few years I've kept a running list, the spots I recommend without hesitation, whether I'm talking to someone relocating from out of state or a longtime Central Ohio resident who's just never gotten around to trying the coffee shop three blocks away.
This is that list, organized by category instead of by city, so it's actually usable no matter which corner of Plain City, Powell, Dublin, or Columbus you call home. I'll keep adding to it.

PowellhasLocal Roots, a farm-to-table spot with a menu that actually changes with the seasons, plus live music that makes a weeknight feel like a weekend.
Plain Cityisn't just farmland between here and there - it'sDer Dutchman, an Amish bakery-restaurant where people drive across the county for the donuts alone.
Parks & Outdoor Spaces
Scioto Audubon Metro Parksits right along the river downtown, with a climbing wall, wetland trails, and a skyline view that makes it feel like a much bigger outing than it is.
Shale Hollow Preservein Powell is the more rugged option - shale cliffs, creek crossings, and natural play areas for anyone who wants their walk to feel like a small adventure.
Prairie Oaks Metro Park, just outside Plain City, has some of the quietest trails in the area along with kayak and canoe access to the Big Darby Creek.
Blacklick Woods Metro Parkadded a canopy walk a couple of years ago - an elevated boardwalk that loops through the treetops about 40 feet up. It's one of the more unusual things to do outdoors in Central Ohio, and it's still not on everyone's radar.
Glacier Ridge Metro Parkstraddles the Plain City-Dublin line, with easy trails, restored wetlands, and an observation tower - free admission, and rarely crowded.
Family Fun & Kid-Friendly Spots
Ballantrae Community Park Spray Fountainsin Dublin is the go-to warm-weather stop - free, easy to get to, and open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Schiller Parkin German Village has separate play areas for toddlers and older kids, plus a pond where duck feeding is basically a rite of passage.
Blendon Woods Metro Parkopened a fully inclusive playground with adaptive swings and sensory play areas - worth knowing about whether or not it applies to your own household.
